Three KoonsFuller Associates Become Board Certified
KoonsFuller attorneys Sean Abeyta, Ashley McDowell and Rachel Moore recently passed the statewide exam to become Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
This gives the firm 17 attorneys across North Texas who are Board Certified in Family Law. Sean Abeyta (sean@koonsfuller.com) is based in the Denton office and has more than 14 years experience handling complex family law cases, including divorce, child custody, paternity issues, post-divorce modifications, and enforcement of orders.
Ashley McDowell (Ashley@koonsfuller.com) is based in Dallas. Rachel Moore (Rachel@koonsfuller.com) is based in Southlake. Rachel and Ashley are both trained in family law and collaborative law, and both were named to the Texas Rising Stars list in 2011. Rachel has also been named one of the Top Attorneys in Tarrant County by Fort Worth, Texas Magazine.
Board Certification is a voluntary designation program certifying Texas attorneys in 21 specific areas of law. Board Certified attorneys must be licensed for at least five years, devote a required percentage of practice to a specialty area for at least three years, attend continuing education seminars, pass an evaluation by fellow lawyers and judges and pass a 6-hour written examination.
“Board Certified attorneys have made a commitment to excellence to serve the justice system in Texas and to benefit individuals and institutions in Texas,” said Robert Valdez, Chairman of the TBLS Board of Directors. “They have dedicated their time to meeting all the requirements for initial certification and they have made an ongoing commitment to continue working and acquiring knowledge in their specialty area.”
