FORT WORTH, TX – July 9 – Keeping area attorneys Informed about effects of the Barnett Shale will be a prime focus of the Tarrant County Bar Association this year, says incoming TCBA president Heather L. King.

“We have created a new energy law section to publicize recent developments affecting Tarrant County residents,” says King, who recently became president of the TCBA. “This will be our focus along with enhancing existing community service projects such as The People’s Law School, which has been a resounding success.”

King, who is a board certified family lawyer, is the 104th president of the lawyer’s group and only the fifth woman to hold the office. Having just turned 42, she is also one of the youngest ever.

Managing partner in the Southlake office of Koons, Fuller, Vanden Eykel & Robertson, the largest exclusively family law firm in the southwest, King has been selected one of the area’s top attorneys by Fort Worth Texas Magazine. She is listed among the Texas Super Lawyers and the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Texas by Texas Monthly and is cited in The Best Lawyers in America.

Few family law attorneys have her extensive experience in all aspects of a case from beginning to trial to appeal. King is an officer in the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists, a member of the Family Law Council of the State Bar of Texas and a past president of the Tarrant County Family Law Bar Association.

King started her legal career as a receptionist for a Fort Worth firm while attending Texas Christian University. She acquired her Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law.
