A focused and aggressive professional, Sean Patrick Abeyta embraces the proverb frequently recited by President Theodore Roosevelt: “Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far.”
Mr. Abeyta’s goal in every case is to achieve the best possible results for his client. With more than 14 years of achievement handling complex family law cases, Mr. Abeyta believes that most of his clients are best served by resolving their cases out of court and avoiding litigation to the extent possible. However, he learned very early in his career that the best way to achieve a settlement in most cases is to prepare for trial, whereas preparing only for a settlement can easily result in a case going to trial.
For the first nine years of his career, Mr. Abeyta operated a solo practice which was primarily devoted to family law and criminal law. During that time, he gained a tremendous amount of trial experience, including the litigation of more than 20 jury trials as either lead counsel or second-chair attorney. Over the years, Mr. Abeyta has also honed his negotiation skills and has established an impressive track record of helping clients achieve out-of-court settlements in many cases, including some of the most contentious and complicated cases. Mr. Abeyta believes that a key component of achieving such settlements is carrying the “big stick” of being an aggressive, hard-nosed trial attorney who is known for achieving successful results in the courtroom.
Since 2007, Mr. Abeyta has devoted his legal practice exclusively to family law. He understands that each client’s case is unique and requires a legal strategy that is tailor-made to the needs of that particular client and the circumstances of the case. Mr. Abeyta is also keenly aware that every family law case involves the most important aspects of his client’s life and that the results obtained in the family law case will likely have long-lasting effects on the client’s life in the future. For these reasons, he recognizes the trust that is placed in him by each and every client he serves, and he strives in every case to achieve the best possible result for his client, while doing so with compassion, respect, and integrity.

Mr. Abeyta attended the University of Texas School of Law and earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1997. He is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and he is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, the Denton County Bar Association and Family Law Section, the Tarrant County Family Law Bar Association, the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists, and the College of the State Bar of Texas.
